Moreover, the new UNICEF Evaluation policy 2018 places a greater emphasis on learning, utilization and sharing of evidence.

Aligned with these priorities, the Mozambique CO is committed to generating, synthesizing and promoting the use of evaluations, research and data about children to catalyze change for children in a country where over a half of children population lives in deep and multi-faceted poverty.

How can you make a difference?

You will be responsible for developing and supporting UNICEF Mozambique CO as one stop knowledge center on children in Mozambique facilitate, coordinate, and implement knowledge management strategies which include knowledge sharing, evidence and data driven information management, synthesis of evidence and documenting lessons learned, and capacity development.

Your key accountabilities are :

Knowledge sharing and exchange :

  • Facilitate utilisation of evidence produced through CO research and evaluation activities by building links with the CO advocacy priorities
  • Contribute to internal learning for successful replication and scaling up by supporting the documentation and validation of good practices and lessons learnt across MCO’s programming;
  • Contribute to CO strategy to increase visibility of research and evaluation products produced by UNICEF in collaboration with its partners including the use of social media and other communication tools.
  • Evidence driven information management :

  • Support consistent information management practices and ensure use of good knowledge management principles across the MCO;
  • Implement the system of internal dissemination of evidence, particularly related to cross-sectoral areas of work.
  • Synthesis of evidence produced by UNICEF CO and its partners :

  • Collect and synthesize systematically key relevant cross-sectorial evidence produced by UNICEF Mozambique office and its national and global partners, academic and research institutions.
  • Draw on available administrative and survey data to produce timely and regular policy briefs to inform cross-sectorial programming.
  • Promote and facilitate internal CO capacity to design and use high quality and innovative research and evaluations
  • Provide guidance across sections to build internal capacity in all aspects of research impact, evidence utilization and dissemination at all stages of research and evaluation projects.
  • Adapt existing training and methodological guidance materials on evidence generation and learning produced by UNICEF HQ / RO and external parties to Mozambique context.
  • To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have :

  • University degree in one of the following fields : economics, public policy, sociology, or another relevant social science field
  • A minimum of two years or relevant professional experience in the area of knowledge management, research and evaluation is required.
  • A record of publications and / or advocacy products is required.
  • Skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis and data management, including online platforms is required.
  • Proven effective communication skills, demonstrated through past experience in capacity building or event facilitation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of UN and international humanitarian policies is a strong asset.
  • Experience working in a developing country is a strong asset.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
