Execution scope for the Civil Roads & Utilities Superintendent include;site survey and benchmark controls;site preparation works;
grub, clear, cut and fill;temporary and permanent site road construction;excavations, services trenching;underground / above ground utility infrastructure;
power, transformers, water treatment & reticulation, drainage, boreholes, handpumps etc;reinforced concrete foundations and structures;
stormwater and drainage network construction;public and community buildings; school, police department, health center, administration etc;
temporary and permanent erosion control measures;community livelihood support works; replacement agricultural land, tree nursery etc.
Overall responsibility for Company oversight of the Construction Contractor day to day management of the works;
Compliance, oversight, guidance and support to the Construction Contractor;
Coordinate daily tasks and provide guidance and support and to site engineers and construction supervisor reporting directly to the construction superintendent;
Support the implementation of the Company HSE Policies and procedures;
Support the implementation of the Company Assurance program and processes;
Compliance with the Company Security protocols;
Provide safety leadership to Construction Contractor and Company team, to achieve best in class safety performances on site;
Actively participate in Construction Contractor site toolbox talks, pre-starts and site safety briefings and meetings;
Monitor and report on Construction Contractor compliance to project HSE and Quality Assurance requirements;
Site surveillance and reporting of construction progress against approved schedules;
Assist line Managers as required in the management of the overall Construction program;
Work closely with construction teams to ensure a concise and clear understanding of all applicable engineering designs, project specifications and standards;
Complete discipline document reviews and comments for assurance approvals;
Review Engineering contractor design drawings, technical notes, specifications and similar deliverables produced within Discipline;
Monitor and review construction practices, including design control, document control, interface management and special processes;
Provide detailed daily records and reports as required by line management;
Ensure alignment and coordination between resettlement project needs and RV construction schedule with the aim of facilitating households moves;
Undertake Mechanical Completion inspections, including engagement with Government Third-Party inspectors, verification of quality documentation and signoff of contractor completion dossiers.
10+ years of relevant industry experience with directly supervising contractors and / or work crews in civil road construction, utility infrastructure and building works on major capital projects;
A degree / diploma qualification or equivalent in related discipline field and / or Infrastructure projects;
Civil Construction & Maintenance Certificate Level 4 (or equivalent);
Proven track record of working as a Company representative on lump sum oil and gas projects;
Proven ability to liaise professionally with Engineering and Construction Contractors and other key stakeholders on site;
Previous experience in a similar role(s) on a large scale project(s) with a history of safety leadership;
Proven experience in the construction of roads, storm drainage, culverts, sewer, water reticulation;
Advanced knowledge of civil construction activities for onshore road networks and utility infrastructure and associated disciplines;
survey, concrete structures, structural erection, power, water supply;
Knowledge of appropriate codes, standards and good construction and engineering practices specifically within the civil, structural, mechanical, piping construction disciplines;
Advanced computer skills for MS office, Adobe and Database software applications;
Proven ability to interpret and manage project schedules and report against field progress.
Proven ability to manage and influence a team and develop an effective culture through respect.
Sound understanding of financial controls and project budgets.
Ability to deliver a culture committed to safely delivering the Project targets.
Ability to schedule priorities and multi-task within the assigned Engineering and Construction Contract packages.
Able to work autonomously with minimal technical guidance and instruction.
